Manish Malhotra brought style and glamour to Shabana Azmi’s noble cause for the village of Mijwan in Uttar Pradesh. A fashion show entitled ‘Mijwan – The Legacy’ was organized by the designer in Mumbai on April 4, 2015 to mark the completion of four years journey by the NGO ‘Mijwan Welfare Society’, a brainchild of Shabani Azmi’s father, Mr. Kaifi Azmi.

Manish Malhotra brought together celebrity father daughter duo Shatrugan Sinha and Sonakshi Sinha besides others to bring live to his stunning collection.
Sonakshi Sinha’s showstopper garment was a contemporary lehenga in bright pink with floral detailing that did well to bring out her radiant beauty. While the skirt and the delicate shawl were given heavy embroidery works, the sleeveless crop top featured beaded tassels that added delightful drama to the whole look. We love the half up hairstyle on Sonakshi and the pinned flower only upped to its loveliness. She looked breathtakingly gorgeous. With a dramatic look like this who needs jewelleries?

Visibly proud of his talented daughter, Shatrugan Sinha put his arms around Sonakshi as they walked down the runway. He was dressed in an ethnic suit with a heavily embroidered shawl draped around his neck. It was beautiful moment and those in the audience were lucky to have witnessed the father-daughter walk together.

The Mijwan collection had Manish Malhotra collaborate with the Kaifi Azmi Sewing and Embroider Centre in Mijwan in an initiative to provide opportunities and platform to the women of Mijwan. The breathtaking collection stands proof to the artistic talents of these women. The designer brought a modern flavour to Chikankari embroidery style by introducing floral and appliqué designs. These beautiful embroidery works were created on urban silhouettes like crop tops, skirts, structured sherwanis, etc.
The vibrant Mijwan collection 2015 will be available at Manish Malhotra stores in Mumbai and New Delhi.
