Kim Kardashian went full Old Hollywood for the 2026 Academy Museum Gala, stepping onto the red carpet in a look that felt cinematic, romantic and unmistakably glamorous.

Styled by Law Roach, Kim wore an archival Balenciaga gown from 1951, sourced from Lily et Cie. The strapless lace silhouette was softened with a pale pink sash across the neckline, finishing in a dramatic bow at the back. Against a red carpet filled with sharper contemporary gowns, the vintage construction immediately stood out.

The Elizabeth Taylor influence came through most clearly in the beauty styling. Kim wore her hair in a voluminous bouffant, giving the look the kind of polished screen siren glamour associated with Hollywood’s golden era.
And then came the diamonds.
A spectacular 55.8 carat Leviev diamond necklace brought serious sparkle, while 10.2 carat Zydo Italy cluster earrings added another layer of high jewellery drama.
What made the look work was the balance. The lace gown brought softness, the diamonds delivered extravagance and the sculpted hair completed the vintage mood without turning the appearance into a literal costume.
Kim has made archival fashion part of her red carpet vocabulary, but this felt particularly refined.
Less imitation, more beautifully executed Old Hollywood fantasy.
