A host of celebrities made their way to the Mahalaxmi Race Course in Mumbai, India on February 2, 2014 for the McDowell Signature Premier Indian Derby 2014 – one of the glitziest events of the year. The event lasted for two days –from February 1st to February 2nd – and was well-attended by the social set.

Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon wore a figure-hugging, full-sleeved, graphic print maxi and styled her hair in curls which were left loose. Since the dress was already so expressive, a cleaner, sleeker hairstyle would have served her look far better.

Also present was Adar Poonawalla, the Executive Director or Operations of the Serum Institute of India, and his lovely wife Natasha.

He looked quite spiffy in a grey pantsuit with a white shirt and striking blue tie. She looked even more striking in a sleeveless red jumpsuit which was effusively styled with an elaborate hat, statement necklace and dark sunglasses. Red lips completed her look.

A fashion show was held as part of the event with famed Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock presenting their collections.

The show was attended by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar who also walked the ramp in a grey pantsuit, matching waistcoat, monochrome checked shirt and Derby hat. We like the salt and pepper beard he chose to sport. The natural look suits him tremendously.

Other big names who attended the races that day included Vivek Jain, Chairman of the Royal Western India Turf Club, and Vijay Mallya, Chairman of the UB Group.
