20-year-old actress Shailene Woodley has been making waves on the red carpet this awards season. And here she is turning heads once more. Arriving at the Grand Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood, California on January 28 for the 64th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards, Shailene was a vision in a lacy red Valentino gown that undoubtedly stole the show. But no look is complete without the right hairstyle, and Shailene picked a winner with her slightly messy side plait.
Shailene’s long brown hair was swept over her left shoulder and plaited. Bits of hair were allowed to jut out from the braid, giving it a messy look that somehow added sophistication to her outfit. Her grown-out flicks were casually combed down the right side to frame her face.
She has a pretty, child-like face, and this hairstyle accentuates those aspects of her features and her overall persona. The thick braid is a charming and very feminine, which works well with her uber girly lacy red dress.
The side plait is a youthful hairstyle that will suit any kind of outfit and almost any kind of look. Although it may be a little challenging to achieve this hairstyle initially, once it is done it is pretty low-maintenance. Plus, the loose plaiting ensures that the hair is not pulled hard and tight so it does not cause damage to the roots. It’s great for when you want a fashionable hairstyle that you don’t have to fuss much with.
