The fashionista wore a silhouette that we’ve seen on her often before but which we’re still not tired of looking at, that’s how great it is. She sported a strapless dull gold princess dress from Elie Saab’s Fall Couture 2013 collection, including in the ensemble the same gold ankle-strap pumps that rounded out the look on the runway. Beads and sequins embellished the outfit, making it one of the best she’s ever worn throughout her career as a style icon.

The colour of the dress was not arbitrary. It was meant to reflect the inspiration of the new makeup collection – gold. Sonam will be wearing only makeup from this collection when she attends the Cannes Film Festival this year.

The world-famous film festival is on from May 14 to May 25, but Sonam said she will only be able to attend for a couple of days in the middle because her schedule is crazy-packed with shooting for her next three films – Khubsoorat, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Dolly ki Doli.

But she’s really looking forward even to that short trip because, she says, she needs a break from both the work and the stifling heat in Mumbai and can’t think of a better getaway than a trip to Cannes.
