Deepika Padukone Is Not Part of Brahmastra 2, Her Team Confirms

The casting buzz around Brahmastra 2 has taken a sharp turn.

After days of reports suggesting that Deepika Padukone could return to the Astraverse in a major role, her team has now stepped in and clearly denied the speculation.

Deepika Padukone Is Not Part of Brahmastra 2

Deepika’s spokesperson confirmed that the actress is not part of Brahmastra 2 in any capacity, putting an end to recent claims that she was being considered for the role of Amrita.

Where Did the Rumours Begin?

The speculation did not come out of nowhere.

Deepika had a brief but memorable appearance in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva, where she was shown as Amrita, Shiva’s mother. Her character was closely connected to Dev, whose story was teased towards the end of the film.

That small appearance immediately sparked years of fan theories about whether Deepika would return in a much larger role in the sequel.

More recently, reports claimed that director Ayan Mukerji and his team were keen to cast her as Amrita in the next chapter. Some reports even suggested that she could appear alongside Alia Bhatt as a parallel female lead.

Now, her team has made it clear that those reports should not be treated as confirmed.

So Who Will Play Amrita?

That is now one of the biggest unanswered questions surrounding Brahmastra 2.

Amrita is an important part of the larger story because of her connection to both Shiva and Dev. With Deepika officially ruled out, the makers will either need to cast someone new or take the character in a different direction.

At the moment, no official announcement has been made about who will take on the role.

And considering how much interest there is around Amrita, that casting reveal could easily become one of the film’s biggest talking points.

Ranbir Kapoor Is Expected to Return as Shiva

While Deepika is out of the picture, Ranbir Kapoor is expected to return as Shiva, the central character introduced in the first film.

Alia Bhatt is also widely expected to reprise her role as Isha, while the sequel is set to explore more of Dev’s story and expand the Astraverse further.

Reports have suggested that production could begin in 2027 after Ranbir wraps his other commitments, including Ramayana Part 2.

What This Means for Brahmastra 2

The clarification is important because Deepika’s possible return had become one of the most discussed parts of the sequel. Her appearance in the first film felt like a deliberate setup, so naturally, fans expected that thread to continue.

Now the mystery is back. Who plays Amrita, how Dev enters the story, and how much of the first film’s setup carries forward are all still open questions. And perhaps that is not a bad thing.

For a film already surrounded by years of speculation, Brahmastra 2 just got another big casting mystery to solve.
