Miley Cyrus is making headlines for something far more meaningful than music, and this time, it’s about changing lives.

The Grammy-winning singer has pledged $1 million through the Miley Cyrus Foundation to support Rosa’s Place, a new housing development in Los Angeles that will provide permanent homes for women experiencing homelessness, including survivors of domestic violence.

And she’s making it a family affair, with her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, joining her in the initiative.

A Safe Place to Call Home

Located in Los Angeles’ Skid Row neighbourhood, Rosa’s Place is being developed by the Downtown Women’s Center and will feature 97 permanent apartments.

But the project goes beyond providing shelter. Residents will also have access to healthcare, counselling, employment assistance and other support services designed to help them rebuild their lives.

The development is expected to welcome its first residents in 2027.

Miley and her mother are also contributing to the interior design, helping create welcoming spaces where women can feel safe, comfortable and supported.

Miley’s Commitment Goes Back Years

The donation was announced at the Downtown Women’s Center’s Every Woman Housed Gala on October 10, 2026, where Miley and Tish were honoured for their philanthropic work.

For Miley, supporting people experiencing homelessness isn’t a new cause.

Back in 2014, she famously used her MTV Video Music Awards moment to draw attention to youth homelessness. She later launched the Happy Hippie Foundation, which has supported vulnerable young people and LGBTQ+ communities.

Her latest contribution builds on more than a decade of advocacy.

Fame with a Purpose

Celebrity philanthropy often makes headlines, but what makes this initiative particularly meaningful is its focus on long-term change.

A safe home can mean the opportunity to find employment, recover from trauma and build an independent future.

For 97 women, Rosa’s Place could represent exactly that.

And if there’s one celebrity story worth celebrating, it’s this one. Because using fame and fortune to give people a fresh start never goes out of style.
