Kirsten Dunst seems to have raised her style quotient. Although she is a passably good dresser, the actress usually lacks the oomph to stand out on the red carpet. But we saw her at the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, California on February 25 in an outfit that made us sit up, take notice and perhaps change our minds about her.
The 29-year-old wore a Dolce & Gabbana black low-cut mini dress with a sweetheart neckline paired with a crisp, tailored white blazer by Chloe, the latter a good call to tone down the outfit for the daytime event. The rare show of skin was a pleasant surprise since the pretty actress is not usually so bold. She even removed the blazer as she went on stage to present the Best Director award with Jonah Hill.
The elegant monochrome ensemble was accentuated more so by her large yellow leather clutch purse with gold straps by Chloe. She completed her look with sexy platform heels with a floral black and white design also by Dolce & Gabbana and a gold ring by Van Cleef and Arpels.
Kirsten wore her wavy blonde hair loose with a side parting. Her face makeup was natural but her smokey eye makeup had her looking sultry.
This is a surprisingly modern and stylish ensemble for the Melancholia star. She’s usually demure and simple, fading into the background. Well, this ensemble is pretty hard to ignore and we’re glad that the lovely actress is getting bolder with her red – in this case purple – carpet look.
Get the Look
There’s nothing simpler than putting this chic outfit together. A little black dress is a wardrobe must-have so simply get yours out and pair it with a smart white jacket that has a formal cut and modern design.
Don’t forget to give it a personal touch like Kirstin did with the yellow bag and those lovely shoes. If you want to go safe with the shoes, choose black pumps. For some glamor, go with silver strappy heels.
