Monokini Swimsuits

July 13, 2011 by samriddhi

Monokini swimsuits are an interesting take on a one piece swimsuit and a bikini combined together, in a sexier avatar.

A monokini can be described as a one piece swimsuit that usually has a plunging neckline, with cuts outs on the side or in the front – giving it a strappy look. Therefore, the sides and/or the abdomen area are strategically exposed.

The monokini swimsuit surely has evolved from the time it was first introduced – when it was basically a topless swimsuit. But, with time it became a more accepted piece of swimwear by including a top covering.

  • These swimsuits can also be strapless apart from having halter necks or tie ups. Some could even have two straps.
  • The neck of the monokini swimsuit usually has detailing of rhinestones or beads to make it look more exotic.
  • The base of the monokini could be cut like a g-string or made to cover the entire backside, it all depends upon the style that you are most comfortable about sporting.
  • Monokinis can have high cuts on the side of the thighs; this makes the wearer’s legs look longer than usual.
  • An advantage of wearing monokini swimsuits is that they do not slip off easily while you surf, dive or swim.

Which body types do the monokini swimsuits suit?

Monokini swimsuits can be sported happily by those who have an hourglass, pear shaped, straight or athletic bodies. They make the body look curvier and accentuate every dent and curve – hence, if you want to show off your worked out body then choose the monokini. It will do wonders for you. The monokini also puts emphasis on making the waist look smaller – which makes it all the more good.

How to wear monokini swimsuits if they don’t suit your body frame

All those of you, who consider themselves apple shaped or are on the heavier side – don’t be disheartened. You too can wear the monokini swimsuit with style. All you have to do is ensure that there are not too many straps on the side as these may put more emphasis on love handles and bulk. Rather, opt for a style that has a plunging neckline and one long cut out on the side, instead of multiple cut outs and straps. This will add a slimming effect visually.

Monokinis are found in various patterns

You can buy monokini swimsuits in various patterns that range from solid colors to retro prints, polka dots to geometric prints among others. If you have a slight frame then you can opt for bigger prints without a second thought. However, if you are on the larger side then opt for solid colors and smaller prints – if you want to look slender.

Monokinis are easily found in all the stores that sell swimsuits. You can also order one online. However, take care to buy the right size – you don’t want a size bigger or a size smaller. The size has to be correct and fit your body snugly like second skin. A lot of girls buy a size smaller – thinking it is going to make them look sexier. However, it has the opposite effect. A size that is too small can make your skin bulge – even if you have the shapeliest of body and you don’t want that!

Monokinis are sexy swimwears that are great for flaunting your curves and getting attention. So, if you want to be a head turner and stand out among the crowd – then grab one of these. Trust us, you won’t be complaining. So, hit the beach or the pool in monokini swimsuits.
