Beauty How To: Define the Lower Lash Line to Make Eyes Look Bigger

August 6, 2013 by samriddhi

In this tutorial, instead of putting all the focus on the upper eyelids, we will show you how to get the smoky eye effect on the lower lash line. It defines the eyes well, and makes them look elongated and bigger.

We bring you the steps to do this makeup yourself. So, let us get started.

DIY Tutorial: Define the Lower Lash

Makeup Items Needed: Primer, foundation, concealer, compact, beige eyeshadow, pinkish brown eyeshadow, light golden eyeshadow, black eyeshadow, black eyeliner, black kohl, mascara/fake eyelashes, rose blush, pink lipstick and dark pink lip liner.

Base:

The first step of makeup is to apply a good base in order to hide any facial imperfections such as blemishes, dark circles, pimples, pigmentation or uneven skin. The base also brightens the face. In order to get started with the base, apply primer evenly all over your face. Next, take the foundation and, using a sponge, dab it all over your face and then slowly even it out so that it doesn’t seem that you have applied foundation. Next use the concealer to hide the “blemishes, pores or pimples”. Finish by dabbing compact all over your face. You can give this step a miss if your skin is dry.

Eyes:

Start by darkening your eyebrows by using the brown eyebrow pencil. After that, take the beige eyeshadow and apply it evenly all over your upper eyelid. Next, you can start contouring your upper eye lid – to give it more depth. For this, take the pinkish brown eyeshadow and dab along the crease of your upper eyelid – extending outwards, right below where the eyebrow ends. Blend the eyeshadow well along the crease line. Take the light golden eyeshadow and apply along your upper lash line – starting right from the inner corner of the eye. Use the same eyeshadow on your brow bone to highlight it. After this, take the eyeliner and deftly use it along the upper lash line. Ensure that you do not extend it, either inwards or outwards, more than the natural lash line.

Use the purple eyeshadow along the lower lashes in a broad line – so that it gives the smokey and smudged effect. Extend it outwards so that the line ends right below where the eyebrow ends. Next, take the black eyeshadow and use it closer to the lower lash line. However, while applying this, do ensure that the purple eyeshadow is clearly visible below it. Use the black kohl pencil and use it on the lower eye rim next.

Finish the eye makeup by using three coats of mascara. You can also use fake eyelashes instead of mascara. In order to do so, cut the fake lashes from the sides so that they fit your natural lash line without extending too much at the corners. Apply it on the eyelid, right on top of the lash line, with the help of the mascara glue. You may have to use the eyeliner again on top of the fake eyelash line in order to make it look more natural.

Cheek:

Use the rose blush on your cheeks – extending it from the apple of the cheeks upwards to the top of the ear.

Lips:

Fill the lips evenly with the pink lipstick and then use the darker pink lip liner to line them.

With these steps you are set to define the lower lash line to make eyes look bigger.
