On the opening night of Milan Fashion Week, Vogue World 2026: Milano transformed the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II into something between a runway, a theatre and a moving portrait of Italian creativity.
Staged on September 22, the fifth edition of Vogue World was built around one central idea: the enduring value of the human hand in fashion, particularly at a moment when technology is rapidly changing how clothes are conceived, made and experienced.
The setting could hardly have been more fitting. Beneath the Galleria’s glass dome and ornate architecture, the show unfolded in chapters, moving through different eras and expressions of Italian style.
Fashion Told as a Cultural Story
Rather than presenting one continuous runway, Vogue World approached Milan through a series of visual acts.
The early sections looked back to Italy’s long tradition of craftsmanship, drawing on ideas of handwork, textile making and Renaissance artistry. From there, the narrative moved into sharper tailoring and the industrial precision that helped shape modern Italian fashion.
Then came the glamour.
The language of Made in Italy, cinema and La Dolce Vita entered the picture, bringing a more sensual and recognisable side of Italian style into the performance. Later chapters shifted towards innovation, sustainable materials and a more speculative idea of what fashion might become next.
The result was less about individual collections and more about placing Italian fashion inside a broader cultural timeline.
Celebrities Become Part of the Runway
The distinction between guest, performer and model was deliberately blurred.
Jennifer Lopez made a major appearance in Dolce & Gabbana, while Cardi B, Simone Ashley and MGK also became part of the evening’s fashion spectacle.
On the runway, names including Gigi Hadid and Vittoria Ceretti added traditional supermodel power, while the audience brought its own strong fashion presence. Dakota Johnson, Hunter Schafer and Pamela Anderson were among the high-profile guests seated around the Galleria.
This was not a show built around quietly watching clothes pass by. Celebrity, performance and fashion all occupied the same space.
Alicia Keys Closes the Night
The finale changed the mood completely.
At the centre of the Galleria, Alicia Keys appeared at the piano and performed Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” as models in flowing white looks gathered around her.
After the colour, movement and theatricality of the earlier acts, the ending felt almost weightless.
It was a softer finish to a night built on spectacle.
Vogue World Milano also carried a charitable purpose, raising funds for the Quarto Oggiaro Library in northwestern Milan.
More than a fashion show, Vogue World 2026 became a portrait of Milan itself: historic and modern, disciplined and glamorous, rooted in craft but always looking forward.
