How to wear a Wrap Dress

July 21, 2011 by bela

In 1972, Diane von Furstenberg, liberated the women in the form of the Wrap dress. In its original form, the wrap dress has a front closure with a wrapping formed on the either of the dress, and is held together by knotting or buttons.  The wrapping gives the dress a wide V-shaped neckline and falls closely around a woman’s curves. A faux wrap dress looks just like the original wrap dress, except that it is pre-fastened with no opening on the front of the dress and has to be slipped on from the top.

how to wear wrap dressThe wrap dress has evolved during the years. It can now be seen in a multitude of designs. The lengths and designs are being experimented with everyday. The original form- knee length, long-sleeved, jersey dress- has had a complete make-over over the period of time.

Today the dress is very versatile. The dress has advanced and can be worn in different ways to create various patterns in front. The dress has derivatives in the form of shirts, skirts and ‘angrakha kurtas’ to name a few.

Here are few great pointers to make you flaunt your body in these oomphy dresses:

  • If you are not very comfortable with the deep V neckline then you could wear a tank top for a modest outlook.
  • These traditional dresses can be teamed with leggings, stockings, trousers or a pair of jeans.
  • Do not over stretch the dress by pulling too much, it will stretch the fabric from the back and spoil the look.
  • Choose a print or design that has vertical lines which would create an illusion of height. Irrespective of your figure you should avoid horizontal lines on your dresses.
  • Big flower prints or bold prints give you a larger silhouette, so stay away from them if you are a plus size.

The Wrap dress is frequent at the red carpet. Many Hollywood and Bollywood beauties like Angelina Jolie, Beyonce, Victoria Beckham and Shilpa Shetty are often seen sporting a Wrap dress. These dresses exemplify feminity and exude sexiness.

Accessorizing a Wrap dress

  • Accessorizing Wrap dressWear a belt that is fitted well on the waistline. Belts give an edge to the wrap dress; wider belts are a better choice for the look. You can wear a belt even with faux wrap dress; you can wear a belt on the ties.
  • For an elegant and sophisticated demeanor wear simple necklaces or pearls. For a classy yet chic look try something bolder like big beaded necklaces or chunky jewelry.
  • If you have a wrap dress in a basic solid color, you can accessorize creatively.
  • The choice for shoes is very essential for the right look. All footwear goes very well with this number – boots, heels and sandals.
  • Throw in a pair of over-sized shades and an haute bag with a pair of wedge heels and you are ready to capture the look.

Wrap Dress for different body shapes

wrap dress body shapesThough a wrap dress exceptionally flatters women with full-bust, it also suits almost all body shapes. The wrapping makes your waist look tiny and camouflages the flaws, giving you a smooth silhouette.

  • For the Hour glass figure you need a wrap dress with an accentuated waist line. This highlights the small waist and adds curves to this figure type.
  • For the Pear and Apple Shaped figures you should try dresses with an empire waist line with a skirt that flows out from the waist to thin down the hips.
  • For the Ruler figures opt for detailing on the top in the form of puffed sleeves or tailoring on the bust and a flowing skirt.
  • The wrap dress is a made in such a way that it enhances the bust while flattering the waistline and camouflaging flab or a protruding belly.
  • There is an array of dresses to choose from to complement you figure and make you look great. Just some of them being the kimono style, ‘angarkha’ style, mock dresses, dress corsets and silk wraps.

The wrap dress is for the hoi polloi (for the masses). Everybody can wear and look great in it. It is transformable, flirty, looks very simple and can be glamorized by adding a hint of personal style. Every girl should have a Wrap dress in her wardrobe for the time when you need to make an instant impression and cannot figure out what to wear. It is a quick fix solution to all you last minute dressing up worries.

Rainbow Hair Color : How to Dye your Hair Rainbow

In today’s world of rush hours and stress people often stop to give attention to many important things. Pollution, bad water, lack of proper conditioning and chemical treatment can literally kill the life out of hair leaving it dull and without shine. Different weather conditions can affect the hair as well, cool winter winds and the harsh effects of the summer sun. Instead of spending hours and a fortune in a salon, one should consider a frequent hot oil treatment. It sounds like the most simplest of things , but a lot of women in India and many Asian countries swear by it. It restores the lack of moisture in the hair preventing dry hair and breakage. Hot Oil Treatment is easy to prepare, as all it needs is a packet or bottle of oil which can be immersed in hot water. You can also get hot oil treatment kits in the market for a very reasonable price. If time is not in your favour, you can also make a quick stop at a salon for the treatment as they are much more cost efficient than other treatments available Benifits Of Hot Oil Treatment With environmental concern, chemical treatment, poor water conditions and stress affecting most of our lives, we end up with dull, brittle hair. Hot Oil Treatment conditions the hair and is the perfect medicine for damaged hair and improves the hair texture and appearance. Hot Oil Treatment can also help eliminate scalp related problems such as Dandruff and hair fall. It is easy to apply, easy to wash out and the cost of it does not burn a hole through your pocket. What are the different types of oil that can be used? The first step to Hot Oil Treatment is choosing the right oil for your hair. Olive Oil: This oil nourishes and strengthens weak hair and can also help in getting rid of lice. Olive oil also helps with greying and brittle hair, preventing hair loss and making it softer to the touch. It is often used with children as it is safe and very effective at the same time Coconut Oil: The most popular beauty secret of India is coconut oil. It helps in replenishing hair without the need for harmful chemicals. Coconut Oil prevents protein loss, a major factor in lifeless hair, and promotes clean healthy hair. It also has a cooling effect and helps in relaxation and reduction of stress. It also gets rid of dandruff, scalp irritation and restores protein to your locks. Almond Oil: We all know how nutritionally rich almonds are and are often advice by doctors to add them to our diets. Our hair also benefits from almonds, as they help soften the scalp and promote hair growth. Almond oil is rich in vitamin E and deep conditions the hair bringing back life and shine to hair. Jojoba Oil: This oil is used to cleanse and moisturize hair, repairing damage and split ends. It can be used for all hair types, and using jojoba oil for hot oil treatments can act as a deep conditioner with lasting effects. It is believed to be an effective remedy for hair loss as well. How To Prepare Treatment: Hot Oil Treatment is easy to prepare. All you need to do is heat up a few spoons of oil, or immerse the bottle of oil in hot water. If needed you can mix the oil with a tablespoon of honey, which acts as a mask and helps condition the hair even further. After heating, let the oil cool down for some time. Remember, it must be warm but should not burn your scalp. Apply it on your hair either with your hands or a ball of cotton and then run a wide tooth comb through your hair for better results and detangling. Massage your scalp as this stimulates cell growth and circulation for stronger hair. Make sure that all your hair is evenly covered with the oil and wrap your hair in a warm towel for 30-45 minutes to help the oil penetrate the hair deeper, following which you can leave the oil in your hair overnight for better results. Wash your hair with lukewarm water, avoiding both too hot and too cold and notice the difference immediately. Keep consistently treating your hair and you’ll see improvement in no time. Experiment with different oils to see which works for you the best!
