Ram Leela has been highly anticipated not just because it comes from iconic filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali but also because Ranvir and Deepika are thought to be seeing each other in real life and people can’t wait to check out their chemistry on-screen to see if they can pick up any hints since the couple in question have neither confirmed nor denied a romantic relationship.

It encompasses everything Bhansali wanted to portray – rich cultural undertones, a passionate love story and also vast stores of aggression since the story is set in a turbulent time. Deepika and Ranvir are depicted as very strong and fearless characters who will do anything to be together despite objections from their families who, simply put, hate each other. It’s an Indian take on Shakespeare’s oft-told tragedy Romeo and Juliet, in case you hadn’t guessed that already.
