Alan Ritchson and his wife Catherine Ritchson have announced the end of their marriage after two decades together.
The Reacher star and Catherine shared a joint statement on September 12, confirming that they have decided to separate while remaining committed to raising their three sons together. The couple, who married in 2006, described their marriage as an important part of their lives and made it clear that the split is being approached with mutual respect.
Their Statement Focused on Family
In their message, Alan and Catherine reflected on how much of their lives they had shared, saying they had “grown up together” and built a family side by side.
They also made it clear that their three sons, Calem, Edan and Amory, remain their priority. The couple said they intend to move forward with friendship, grace and a strong commitment to co-parenting, while asking for privacy as their family adjusts to the change.
The tone of the statement was notably warm, with both emphasising that the end of the marriage does not erase the love and respect they still have for one another.
Their Relationship Goes Back to Their Teenage Years
Alan and Catherine first met as teenagers in a ballet class before eventually reconnecting later and marrying on May 12, 2006. Over the years, they largely kept their relationship private, though Alan occasionally shared personal tributes to Catherine and spoke publicly about their family life.
They later became parents to three boys and often structured family life around Alan’s demanding filming schedule. In previous interviews, he spoke about the importance of staying close to his children even while working on location.
The Split Appears to Have Been Developing for Some Time
Although the couple only confirmed the separation publicly this week, there had already been signs that their relationship had changed.
According to court records cited by People and Page Six, Alan filed for divorce in December 2025. Reports also indicate that the couple briefly reconciled in March before ultimately deciding to end the marriage.
In July 2026, Alan had also spoken publicly about the way their relationship had evolved, describing the two as learning to co-parent as friends. That now appears to have been an early indication that the marriage was moving into a different phase.
A Private New Chapter
Neither Alan nor Catherine has given a detailed reason for the split, and their statement suggests they want to keep the more personal parts of the separation away from public scrutiny.
For now, the emphasis is clearly on family rather than drama.
