Neckline Inspiration – Lupita Nyong’o’s Cushnie et Ochs Cutout Sheath Dress

November 19, 2013 by benaifer

Cutout necklines are all the rage. They are a wonderful yet subtle way to show off skin and get your sexy on while still maintaining an air of class and elegance. Although lovely, sometimes cutouts can appear vulgar, especially if they are too revealing or if the cutouts are teamed with a too-short hemline. But if you can get it right – no one can touch you. Let actress Lupita Nyong’o show us how it’s done. Check her out as she attended the GQ 2013 “Men Of The Year” Party at Wilshire Ebell in Los Angeles, California on November 12, 2013.

The 12 Years a Slave star sported a light pink dress with cap sleeves, the skirt falling to just below her knees. The high neckline and cap sleeves were balanced out by the double, deep cutouts running vertically down the front. The half-heart shapes showed off just the slightest sliver of cleavage, but no more than that.

The Cushnie et Ochs Pre-Fall 2013 dress was accessorized with white pumps by Christian Louboutin, a delectable powder pink clutch by Devi Kroell, and a pink cocktail ring and pink stud earrings by Dana Rebecca Designs. She completed her look with a bright pink lippie.

If you’re keen on sporting the cutout look like Lupita, be inspired by her tips. Stick to a longer hemline – right below the knees is best. Style your look minimally as you want the cutout to be the center of attention. An elegant hairdo works best to round out the look.
