Bollywood’s favorite designer Manish Malhotra showcased his designs in the finale show on the fifth day of the PCJ Delhi Couture Week 2013 held in New Delhi.

The Showstoppers: The show was stopped by Bollywood Megastar Shah Rukh Khan and stunning actress Deepika Padukone. Incidentally, the two are starring together in the upcoming movie Chennai Express. SRK looked dapper in a jet black three piece suit. Deepika was dressed in a navy blue velvet lehenga featuring zardozi and heavy silver work. The silk choli had a puffed full length bishop sleeve in velvet.

The Collection: Indian and Indo-Western
Gender: Menswear and Womenswear
Feel: The collection was deeply inspired by fashion of the 1930s. It reflected the style of the rulers of the princely states – which also had, by then, incorporated the design aesthetics of the British. Therefore, the designer added touches of Victorian fashion in the sculpted silhouettes, cuts and designs in this collection. One could also see a lot of opulence – a reminder of the lifestyle of the last of the Indian royalty before they become “erstwhile”.
Clothes: The ramp saw outfits like gowns with belts, saris, lehengas – like the layered ones, lehenga inspired anarkalis, fish cut ghagras, long kurtas, backless cholis, short blouses, collared shirts, multi-buttoned jackets, churidars and bandhgalas among others.
Hues: Colors like royal and navy blues, lavenders, fuchsia, mustards, reds – like the wine shade, ochres, beiges, olives were seen in abundance.
Fabrics: Rich textiles like old textured silks, feminine materials like Chantilly lace, velvet made their presence felt on the attires.
Embellishments: Traditional Indian motifs, dull silver thread work, antique gold embroidery, zardozi were used to adorn the outfits further.
