Tri-Color Nail Art DIY – India Independence Day

August 15, 2013 by sarita

This Independence Day we bring you a nail art tutorial which will help you show your patriotic side in a fashionable way. Fashion is a celebration, and we believe that nothing could be celebrated more than the day we got our Independence. After all, without it there would be no freedom for us to celebrate anything or any occasion the way we do now. Food for thought, right? Which brings us back to our Independence Day nail art; it takes inspiration from the Indian National Flag, in fact it is like sporting miniature flags on the nails.

So, let’s get started.

India Independence Day Nail Art

Nail art items needed:

Nail polish in orange, white, green and navy blue colors. You also need a toothpick and some q-tips.

DIY Steps:

  • Start by polishing your index finger in orange, the middle finger in white and the ring finger in green. These three colors would represent the three colors on the National Flag.

  • Next, paint three horizontal stripes on your thumbnail with these nail colors. The orange stripe should be on top followed by white in the middle and the green at the bottom of your nail. Repeat this step on your little finger too.

  1. Dip the toothpick into the navy blue nail polish and draw a circle right in the middle of the white stripe on the thumbnail. Draw lines inside it in a bicycle wheel like design. This would represent the Ashoka Chakra from the Indian tricolor. Do this entire step on the little finger as well.

  • Repeat steps 1-3 on the finger nails of your other hand.
  • In case any of the steps go awry or the polish spills outside your nails, you can always clear it with q-tips.

We hope you have a good time doing up your nails in the colors of the Indian National Flag as you celebrate Independence Day.
