Racer-back and Strapless Bras

Racer-back Bras

Racer-backs are also known as T-back and sport-back bras.

They are designed so as to provide maximum movement to the backs and arms.

The design may feature a T-strap down the center back and a high curve near the neckline.

The bra straps may be attached close together on a back with a center back panel.

Some designs may have cut-outs around the shoulder blades.

They mostly feature a front closure system because of it's back design.

A racer back bra may come to your rescue when you are wearing a racerback top or a sleeveless dress.

A few women may find the style quite uncomfortable as the straps are placed too close to your neck, pushing down your cervical nerves, causing headaches, muscle or shoulder pain and numbness.

Strapless Bras

Strapless bras, as the name suggests, are bras with no straps or clear straps that are almost invisible under your clothes. Rather they feature wide sides and sewn in silicone stitching to hold them in place.

The fabric, the band-design and the shape of the under wires play a key role to provide support to the breasts and to keep the bra in place.

Strapless under-wires are longer and more curvier to cover the breasts more firmly. The underwrites are incorporated in a way so that they encircle the breasts completely to prevent slippage.

Strapless bras feature wide bands for support. They incorporate boning in the design, at the front and the center along with the under-arm region. The boning may also be seen done in the cups. They promise better support to those with a heavier bust size.

The bras also feature small rubber loops at the inside and also some silicone structures to offer better grip and hold.

These bras put all the weight of the breasts onto the chest band, and extra strain onto the rib cage and back.

They provide support and create cleavage without showing unattractive bra straps.

Strapless bras may also be convertible bras with different hooks at different location to offer flexibility of style. They may have completely detachable or re-attachable straps.

When purchasing a strapless bra, remember that support is the most important factor. You want to make sure the strapless bra holds you in completely, lifts your breasts, stays in place and does not leave indentations on your skin

This bra will be perfect for strapless dresses, off shoulder dresses and halter and strappy tops.

A strapless bra without under-wires is a Bandeau.
