Sanjay Leela Bhansali Reportedly Plans Love & War Jewellery Collection Ahead of Film Release

Sanjay Leela Bhansali may be extending the world of Love & War beyond the screen. The filmmaker is reportedly planning an exclusive jewellery collection inspired by the period pieces created for the film’s cast, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. The collection is expected to launch in December 2026, roughly a month before the film arrives in theatres on January 21, 2027.

The idea feels very much in keeping with Bhansali’s visual approach. His films are known for treating costume, jewellery and production design as part of the storytelling, and Love & War appears to be following the same path.

A Jewellery Line Drawn From the Film’s Period World

According to reports, the collection will take inspiration from the jewellery designed for the film’s 1950s and 1960s setting. Chokers, elaborate bracelets and pearl pieces are expected to form part of the range, reflecting the period styling created for the central characters.

That period gives the collection plenty to work with. Mid century Indian jewellery moved between old world formality and a more cosmopolitan post Independence mood, with pearls, structured necklaces, cocktail bracelets and polished evening pieces playing an important role in formal dressing.

If the final collection stays close to the film’s visual language, it could offer a more restrained and elegant direction than the heavily ornate jewellery usually associated with Bhansali’s historical films.

Love & War Is Set in the 1950s and 1960s

The film itself is described as a romantic war drama led by Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. Reports suggest the story centres on a love triangle, with the period setting spanning the 1950s and 1960s. Filming has now wrapped, with the project moving into post production ahead of its January 2027 release.

Bhansali is also reportedly finalising the film’s edit and promotional material, with the jewellery line expected to be locked by the end of November after the trailer rollout begins.

That timing is significant. Instead of treating the jewellery as simple merchandise, the launch could become part of the film’s visual introduction, allowing audiences to engage with the aesthetic of Love & War before seeing the characters on screen.

Bhansali Has Done This Before

This would not be the first time Bhansali has taken film jewellery into retail.

Ahead of Padmaavat in 2018, he collaborated with Tanishq on a special collection inspired by the jewellery seen in the film. Reports around the new project suggest a similar model may be followed for Love & War, although the final details of the partnership have yet to be formally announced.

The strategy makes sense because Bhansali’s films often generate as much conversation around fashion and jewellery as they do around performances. A dedicated collection turns that visual interest into something audiences can actually buy.

Why the Collection Could Be Interesting

What makes this project worth watching is the period itself.

A 1950s and 1960s inspired jewellery line opens up a very different mood from regal bridal jewellery. Think structured chokers, layered pearls, statement bracelets and polished pieces that can move between vintage eveningwear and contemporary styling.

There is also potential for the men’s jewellery to be interesting. Since the collection is said to draw from pieces created for Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal as well as Alia Bhatt, it may not be limited to traditionally feminine designs.

If handled well, the range could sit somewhere between cinema costume, vintage glamour and wearable luxury.

A Film World That Could Extend Into Fashion

Bhansali has always built his films visually, and Love & War appears to be no exception. Launching the jewellery before the film gives the audience an early glimpse into that world while also turning costume design into a standalone fashion story.

For now, the collection remains reported rather than officially unveiled. But with a December launch being discussed and the film scheduled for January 21, 2027, the jewellery may become one of the first major clues to how Bhansali is imagining the style of Love & War.
