Lady Gaga has entered a very different kind of new era. The 40 year old singer and actor has welcomed her first child with fiancé Michael Polansky, according to multiple reports published on September 11. The couple was recently photographed in Northern California, with Gaga carrying the baby close to her chest during a walk with Polansky.
For now, the couple is keeping the details private. The baby’s name, sex and exact date of birth have not been revealed, which is very much in keeping with the low key way Gaga and Polansky have handled much of their relationship.
Motherhood Has Been on Gaga’s Mind for Years
The news feels especially meaningful because Gaga has spoken openly about wanting to become a mother.
In 2025, she described motherhood as her hoped for “next starring role”, while also talking thoughtfully about the kind of parent she wanted to be. She said one of her priorities would be giving her children enough space to discover who they are for themselves rather than feeling defined by her career.
That makes this arrival feel less like a surprise chapter and more like something she had been moving toward for some time.
Gaga and Michael Have Built Their Relationship Quietly

Gaga and Polansky have been together for several years, first becoming publicly linked around 2020. Their relationship deepened during the pandemic, and they later became engaged, with the engagement becoming public during the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Polansky has also become part of Gaga’s creative world. She has previously spoken about how his understanding of her work helped shape projects including Mayhem, while the two have generally kept their private life away from constant public scrutiny.
A New Chapter After a Huge Career Run
The timing also comes after an especially busy stretch for Gaga. She wrapped her Mayhem tour in April 2026 and continued working across music and film, including an appearance in The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Now, though, the biggest update is personal rather than professional.
For someone long known to fans as Mother Monster, becoming a mother in real life feels like a particularly sweet full circle moment.
