Afghan
‘Afghan’ is a shawl or a blanket crocheted or knitted in geometric shapes and stripes using bright and colorful yarns. They are mostly geometrical and always have some sort of shape on them which are further surrounded by flower or intricate vein designs. Afghan blankets are usually hand-made and therefore come in many colors.
Afghan blankets originated in Afghanistan and included geometric designs.
There are many designs and kinds of afghans available.
The three main types are:
Mile-a-Minute afghans- These are single piece with minimum stitches.
Motif Afghans: These are made of a number of different small pieces called motifs, squares, or blocks. This provides a variety and versatility.
Join as you go Afghans: These are made of a number of different pieces where one piece begins where the other finishes.
