Actress Ahna O’Reilly made a mess of an otherwise very elegant ensemble that she wore to the 18th Annual BAFTA Los Angeles Award Season Tea Party at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, California on January 14.
Ahna wore a calf-length liquid-flowy black skirt with a sheer black blouse. It’s not Ahna’s outfit that’s the problem here – we actually think it is quite pretty with that flowing skirt. That’s one classy side braid she has there. The dangle drop earrings, those trendy red lips – all working really well for her look. And those nude pumps are simply to die for. It’s what she’s got on under the blouse that makes us cringe.
Her bra ruins things entirely. It looks like something someone’s unfashionable great-aunt would wear. It’s outdated, has a tremendously unattractive cut to it, and it makes her breasts look sloppy. The wide straps in particular are a real turn-off.
We’re kinda surprised by this newbie faux pas from Ahna because she normally dresses like she knows what’s right and what’s not. Her whole outfit from head to foot proves that she is indeed a nifty dresser. But that bra has us stumped.
Avoid This Fashion Faux Pas
If you are wearing a sheer outfit that you know is going to show off your underwear, then make sure your underwear is worth showing off.
Your choice of underwear goes a long way in determining the success of any outfit. With a sheer blouse like Ahna’s though, it is crucial that you take extra care when looking at your options. The bra should go well with the entire look. And since it is going to be on view for all to see, it needs to match your clothes and make your breasts look perky and well-formed.
This ensemble could have been saved if Ahna had worn a strapless, padded black bra with under-wire. It would have matched her outfit, made her look sexy by giving her breasts a much-needed lift, and most importantly, it wouldn’t have made it seem like she had raided her grandmother’s wardrobe for a bra.
