Hormones affect epilepsy treatment in women

Researches have determined that specific hormonal situations should play a crucial role in deciding a treatment for epilepsy in women. This study was carried out by Sabine Weil of Munich University and has been published in the newest issue of Deutsches Ärzteblatt International.

The team deduced that hormonal conditions like pregnancy, taking an oral contraceptive etc have a relation to the effect of the Antiepileptic Drug (AED).

Almost 400,000 German women suffer from epilepsy and the study aimed at studying how best to treat women with the condition.
