These three bras each exist to solve one clearly defined problem. None of them is a general-purpose garment, and each is the obvious answer within its own situation.
T-shirt bras
The t-shirt bra exists to be invisible. It is seamless, or has no raised seams at all, so nothing prints through the fabric worn over it.
What it does
- A smooth silhouette under a body-hugging dress or a fitted T-shirt.
- Complete invisibility under close-fitting clothing, with no cup edge or lace line showing.
- Concealed nipples, because the padded cups produce a smooth, even surface.
This is the bra to reach for whenever the outer garment is thin and close-fitting. Under those conditions, the seams and textures on an ordinary bra become visible from across a room.

Training bras
Training bras are first bras, designed for young girls whose breasts are at an early stage of development and are too small for standard bra sizes.
Construction
They are simple garments made from stretch fabrics, providing little support or none at all. That is not a shortcoming, because at this stage there is no support requirement to meet. The purpose is coverage and getting used to wearing one.
Sizing
Training bra sizes run from AAA to A cups. Some styles do not use cup sizes at all and are sized instead by the circumference of the ribcage and back, which is a more practical measure when there is not yet a meaningful cup measurement to take.

U-plunge bras
A U-plunge bra has a deep U-shaped opening at the center front, dropping the central panel far lower than a conventional bra allows.
It exists for one reason: to clear a deep neckline. Evening dresses and ball gowns cut low at the front leave nowhere for a standard center panel to hide, and a U-plunge drops below the line of the garment while still supporting from the sides.
The result is a deeper décolletage with no bra visible, which is precisely what those garments require.

Frequently asked questions
What makes a bra a t-shirt bra?
Seamless molded cups with no raised seams, so nothing prints through close-fitting fabric.
What size is a training bra?
AAA to A cups, and some are sized by ribcage measurement rather than by cup at all.
When is a U-plunge bra needed?
Under a dress cut deep at the front, where a conventional center panel would be visible above the neckline.
Are U-plunge bras supportive?
Support comes from the sides and the band rather than the center. They work well within their purpose, but a full-coverage bra supports more.
