Get the look – Rani Mukherjee’s stunning white and gold saree number

March 12, 2015 by niveditaabem

There are many reasons why we can’t seem to get enough of Rani Mukherjee. Two obvious reasons:

1) Her amazing acting skills. She can pull off a movie on her own without any lead male actor. (If you haven’t watched Mardaani yet, you’re missing out something.),

2) The élan with which she pulls off a saree look, if you ask us, she’s as iconic as Rekhaji in that.

Check out how she has styled the understated white and gold saree at a recent Awards function where she was felicitated with the ‘Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child’ award. The event was organized by Institute for Gender Justice to celebrate the occasion of the International Women’s Day on February 3, 2015 in New Delhi. All the more reason to fall in love with Rani Mukherjee!

She accessorized the simple saree with a bold red blouse while keeping all other jewelleries minimal. It’s such a breather after going through all the celebs who can’t seem to stop over accessorizing. Rani’s only choices of jewelleries were her mangalsutra, a pair of earrings and statement rings.

Keeping her hair in lovely waves, she matched the orange-red of the blouse with her lip-color, bindi and nail polish (talk about detailing!).

Styling tips to get the look:

  1. Though Rani went for a saree, it could also be a white lehenga or salwar suit if you fancy one. Just pick a favorite contrast color (blouse if it’s a saree or dupatta if it’s a salwar/lehenga) to really bring out the white of your dress.

  2. For make-up, start off by making sure your foundation blends naturally to your skin-tone. Instead of the intense dark smokey eyes, go for a lighter grey-black eye shadow and finish off with dark kohl for your inner eye-line.

Choose a lipstick shade that is similar to the contrast red/pink/orange color. And you’ve chosen a color like blue or green, just choose a shade that compliments it.

Make sure you either match your nail color to the shade or just paint it nude.

  1. Rani’s hair has been given a honey-copper highlight that really helped in bringing out her natural glow. It’s not necessary that you go for the exact highlight; more importantly keep your skin tone in mind while choosing a shade.

To style the hair, start off with a good blow dry and using a curling iron, give the lower sections of your hair some careless curls for a natural look.

  1. Accessorize with delicate earrings and a chain or bangle. And you’re all set the charm the world!

We know it’s a little subtle for a night-time and festive looks, but this look is perfect for a formal setting like this Awards function and also for a fresh day time look.
