Acrylic Fiber & Fabric


Acrylic is a man-made fiber. It was first developed and made from petroleum derivatives by DuPont in 1944.

Acrylic fibers are produced from a petrochemical called acrylontrile and are dry spun or wet spun.

Acrylic is used in apparel industry making sweaters, fleece fabrics, and socks.

They are also being used in home furnishing industries such as furniture, carpet, blankets, and upholstery fabrics.


Properties: 


  • High performance: used in sports apparel category.
  • Moisture control: draws moisture away form the skin and quickly transports it to the surface making the wearer more comfortable.
  • Dyes well: can be dyed with an exotic range of colors. Excellent colorfastness.
  • Resists shrinkage an wrinkles: making it easy to take care.
  • Resistant to oils and chemicals.
  • Possess soft wool feeling.
  • Fair resistance to sunlight.
  • Lightweight, soft and warm.
