Sensitive Skin Care

Sensitive skin is basically characterized by its extreme sensitivity towards the weather changes. People with sensitive skin tone often experience reactions on exposure to sun rays, application of cosmetics and environmental dust. These reactions may manifest in form of swelling, rashes, itch and sometimes emergence of scaly lesions on the sensitive skin.

One of the major reasons for sporting sensitive is genetic dispositions. Genetic dispositions are believed to be the primary cause for the extreme sensitivity of the skin. People born with sensitive skin due to genetic factors have a tough time battling the sensitivity factor of their skin. Further, as per the experts, the emotional state of the mind also majorly contributes towards the development of sensitive skin. Women with an agitated or depressive state of mind, especially during the progression of menopause face extremities of the sensitive skin.

Further, prolonged usage of the harsh cosmetics heavily loaded with chemicals is yet another reason for the development of sensitive skin. Over-exposure to environmental dust and toxins destroy the normal tone of the skin and makes it extremely vulnerable to extreme reactions.

Apart from the above reasons, smoking, intake of imbalanced diet and lack of exercises are also other potent causes of the development of sensitive skin.

Recommendations for sensitive skin care

Sensitive skin care can be a tedious task considering the number of precautionary measures required for its maintenance.

For the sensitive skin care it is advisable to mild creams and lotions for daily use on the skin. It is better to use herbal moisturizers, lest the chemicals laden in the cream leads to unwanted reactions on the skin.

Never use a chemicals based face wash for the sensitive skin care as using the same may cause allergic reactions, especially, rashes, acne and scaly lesions.

It is better to check for the allergic reactions of the cosmetics or moisturizers on the skin before including them in your regimen. This is an essential preventive measure which must be followed for the proper sensitive skin care.

Use natural cosmetics or those cosmetics tagged as hypo allergic for the sensitive skin care. Products tagged as hypo allergic cause mild reactions in form of acne or rashes. Hence, they may be used but in a controlled fashion.

It is essential to wear an effective sunscreen lotion before stepping out in the sun as it is known to be the primary cause of eruption of unwanted reactions in the sensitive skin. Always use checked and well tested antisol cosmetics for the sensitive skin care.

Further, after taking bathe in the sun or swimming pool, always take a shower to eliminate the allergic effect of chlorine and other water dust. It is advisable to wear a protective moisturizing cream immediately after taking bath for the sensitive skin care.

Homemade masks for sensitive skin care

Yolk portion of one egg must be mixed with a teaspoon of olive oil and applied on the face. Wash when the mixture is dry. The ingredients of this natural mask will render the benefits of rejuvenation and glow to your sensitive skin.

Milk and vegetable mask

One teaspoon of carrot juice should be mixed with one teaspoon of cottage cheese and one teaspoon of sweet cream. The mask must be applied on the face and left on till it gets dried. The mask is important for the sensitive skin care as it gives the benefit of skin rejuvenation, tightening and natural cleansing.

Honey mask

One teaspoon of honey should be mixed with same quantity of sweet cream. The application of this simple-to-make natural mask is important for the proper care of the sensitive skin. It renders the glowing effect of honey as well as sweet cream to the skin.

Flax seed mask

A glass of water should be poured over a teaspoon of flax seeds. The water must be put to boil unless it transforms into the state of a pulp. Cool the pulp and directly apply on the skin. This mask must be introduced in the regimen for sensitive skin care for rendering a glowing effect.

Don’ts for sensitive skin care

  • Do not use cold water and harsh soap for cleansing your sensitive skin.
  • Do not wash your face with water, nevertheless lukewarm, frequently throughout the day.
  • Do not apply foaming as well as chemicals laden cosmetics on your sensitive skin.
  • Do not strongly massage any cream on your face or any region of the skin.
  • Do not use too strong cosmetics on your sensitive skin.
  • Do not rub the peelings while attempting to remove them.
  • Do not allow the face masks to over-dry your skin as it may lead to development of intense dryness on your skin.
  • Do not use cosmetics that comprise of alcohol or their derivates as their ingredients.
  • Do not rub your skin with towel after bathe.

Food for sensitive skin care

The natural healing of the extreme reactions on the sensitive skin can only take place with a careful intake of well-balanced food. In fact, diet containing plenty of fresh fruits and green vegetables is known to cure the after-effects of sensitive skin speedily. People with this skin tone are strongly advised to increase the intake of water to eight ounces per day for the proper nourishment and hydration of the skin.

Herbs for sensitive skin care

Herbs like almond oil, jojoba oil and comfrey oil are known to relieve the allergic reactions on the sensitive skin. Exfoliation with the help of a herbal exfoliator rich in oatmeal and grapefruit works best to deeply cleanse and nourish the skin without instigating further reactions. Intake of green tea is highly advised for sensitive skin care for its high anti-inflammatory properties.

To conclude, people with highly sensitized skin tone are advised to use herbal products as much as possible to avoid extreme reactions of sorts.
