The costume that we talk about today is the Hatter, which of course a character from Alice in Wonderland. We have all read the book and maybe have watched the Hatter in the movie version as well. The Costume

Johnny Depp wore brown hues when playing the Hatter but let’s pick something more flattering and on trend. We choose a black and white striped blazer which is great visually due to the stark contrast. You can pair them with striped pants as well or choose a white pair of pants. Wear a black shirt inside and if you fancy complete it with a cravat. Don’t forget to add a couple of quirky brooches on the lapel if you own them.

Since you are ‘The Hatter’ the emphasis of your outfit is obviously the hat. So wear a tall top hat that in case not fully loaded with accessories you can add some yourself. Our striped top hat is decorated with a satin scarf tied around it. Some peacock feathers, a fake playing card, beads and chains, origami flowers etc all make the hat the centerpiece. You can choose similar items if your DIYing it.
Makeup

For your Hatter makeup you have to go a little on the crazy side, or let us call it bold. In the movie the character was called “Mad Hatter” so let’s build on that.
Start with the hair, curl them and give them volume. If you don’t want your natural hair to undergo anything simply purchase a wig. In the front you can use some visible bobby pins on the fringes. For your face you can do your regular foundation routine. The focus is the eyes.
Choose different eye shadow combinations for both eyes. We recommend purple and pink on one and green and coral on the other. Start by using a bright green eye shadow on your top lip from the inner corner of the eye. Towards the outer corner and on the brow bone use a lighter yellow green. Next apply the coral eye shadow below your eyes. Repeat similar for the second eye with purple on the eyelid.
Finish your eye makeup by applying fake lashes on the upper lash line. For the lower lashline, cut your fake lash in half and only apply it from the outer corner to the middle of the lower lashline. Apply a good coat of mascara to blend. Lastly, use a close to natural pink on your lips or only slightly darker.
