Bollywood actor Raima Sen launched jewellery designer turned fashion designer Sumona Parekh’s exquisite Spring Bridal 2014 collection in Kolkata, India on December 13, 2013. The occasion also marked the launch of Sumona’s first flagship store in Kolkatta – Sumona Couture.

Raima said she found Sumona’s bridal designs refreshing and very lovely to behold. She revealed that the collection borrowed from a pastel palette and was heavily inspired by nature, although still maintaining the style and elegance that would make any Indian bride feel like a queen. She then wished Sumona all the best for her new venture.

The actress wore a piece from the collection – a red and black sari with an understated festive vibe. The nine yards were delicately embellished with metal work in floral patterns. She paired the sari with a full-sleeve, modestly-cut black blouse. The cuffs and neckline of the blouse and the hem and border of the sari featured contemporary gold brocade embroidery against a black backdrop.

Raima’s outfit was accessorized with a statement bridal necklace, finger rings and a cuff bracelet. A simple, small red bindi, darkly-defined eyes and curly locks completed her look.

Sumona said that the new store would offer bridal wear not just for the bride but also for her family, as well as the groom and his family. Apart from the collection on the rack, she will also offer personal consultations and customised outfits.
She also revealed that since she came from a background in jewellery, she would soon be designing pieces to go with her collections.
