Noted designer Monisha Jaising presented her couture collection entitled ‘The Sailing Bride’ for the Amazon India Couture Week 2015 held at New Delhi’s Taj Palace Hotel on Friday, July 31st. Not only did Monisha surprise everyone but she might have just outdone herself! – At least in terms of presentation and theatrical showmanship.

‘The Sailing Bride’ was set on a yatch, a runway designed to resemble a yatch to be precise. With male models playing the captain and his crew to the T and female models lounging in all their finery, it can be rightly said that, choreography was at its creative and entertaining best.

Models were styled with relaxed wavy hair and contrasting dark vampy lips – what a stunning combination! Set against a backdrop of peppy music, Monisha Jaishing’s range started with indo-west fusion outfits and moved towards bold, sexy dresses given dangerously deep cuts and thigh high slits.

Gorgeous lehenga skirts and sarees were paired with embellished structured blouses and dresses were heavily sequined for a luxurious glitz. Soft fabrics like silk, chiffon, tulle, organza, etc were paired with metallic assents and sheers were used to further bring on the sexy sultry vibe. In terms of colors, there were soft ivory, pastel mints, rich gold, warm orange, earthy red, dark champagne, intense black and restrained white.

To give ‘The Sailing Bride’ show a grand finishing, celebs Kriti Sanon and Prernia Qureshi were roped in as showstoppers. The only glitz to the show was perhaps, Prernia’s evident discomfort with her strapless gown that she kept adjusting. As for Kriti, wearing her lehenga with tank top and sporty sneakers, she played the modern rebel bride to perfection. From the way she brought on the I-don’t-care strut; to the relaxed ease with which she flaunted her tattooed arms, Kriti was a sheer delight to watch!
